The IceCube Masterclass is a one-day event where high school students learn about astrophysics through lectures and hands-on analysis of data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, located in Antarctica at the South Pole. Students will also have lunch with IceCube researchers and will discuss their results in a virtual meeting with other students from across the US or from other countries in Europe.
This masterclass has been designed for students who are in their last year of high school, and those with a special interest in physics will likely get the most out of it. In any case, as this is a guided activity, students within the two last years before college—who have completed or are enrolled in physics subjects—should be able to learn from and enjoy the program.
Registration is handled by each institution. Please email us if you would like to get in touch with an institution near you.
Registration must be submitted by a teacher for the students as a group. A group may consist of only a few students or up to a full class, with or without accompanying teachers. In addition, registered students must submit an authorization form signed by parents or guardians and by the teacher. The authorization form submission is separate from the application form submission by the teacher.
